Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are superb! I made them today and I do believe Travis is in heaven....

The Goods
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon hot water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (opt)
1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups quick oats
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Sift together flour, soda and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream together shortening and sugars; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in hot water, vanilla and flour mixture.
Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
Drop from heaping tablespoons onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes. (10 works for me, and they are still super soft.)

Wish I would have checked your recipes earlier. I just got done making a choco chip recipe off of the nestle toll house pkg. I am sad because I was excited to have some yummy cookies, and they didn't really turn out. Your recipe is next on my list
